Parental influence, their beliefs, insecurities and un-lived dreams, can shape their children's lives in ways that may not be best for the child, and it can take decades for their children to untangle and reroute themselves from life-shaping decisions made in their teenage years.

The shirt is one I bought to give to my Dad for Father's Day over 20 years ago. I decided to use this shirt as the base for my 'art college experiences' because one of the major reasons I didn't study an art or design degree when younger, is that my Dad heavily influenced me against it. He is from a STEM background and didn't think I would be able to have a decent career if I did an arts qualification! I've spent many years regretting the choices I made for GCSE and A-level which meant I couldn't study an art or design degree. It felt full circle to customise the shirt which should have been my Dad's to showcase my creative output, and to shout the message that art is my passion and my future.
