Catalyst focuses on physical places where we explore non-physical things, for instance a therapist’s office. I thought about why we visit a therapist, and the catalysts for me to visit a therapist.

I photographed my Le Corbusier LC4 chaise-longue, a symbolic therapy session, at locations representing my catalysts for getting therapy.

The camera on my old iPhone caused the white to glow, giving the LC4 an other-worldly saintly or angelic appearance. In Catalyst I, I further played on this ‘gift from God’ idea by positioning the curtains so the window frame became a cross. Given how much therapy has supported me through my toughest times, it has arguably replaced the reliance I would have had in religion and priests if I’d been brought up in a religious family.
